- Dealing With Difficult People
Have you ever encountered someone who was difficult to deal with? Someone who was rude, demanding, patronizing, aggressive or even critical? Most people find themselves becoming reactive or frustrated in dealing with these people. It is both time consuming and stressful to manage their behavior. This fun and interactive ½ day session will unlock the secret behavioural motivations that drive difficult behaviours. Participants will take away practical and useful strategies to respond to difficult people more effectively and with minimal effort.
- Managing Aggressive Behaviour
People in psychosis, are intoxicated, have mental health issues, and generally can all be aggressive. Often employees are subject to dealing with aggressive behaviour from other people which can verbally or physically threaten their personal integrity. Such behaviour places a great strain on the coping ability of those affected and may result in undesirable consequences. This threatening and often disturbing behaviour, may affect the employee dealing with the situation. Simple and easily applied techniques can assist to reduce the chances of the situation escalating. Participants on this ½ day workshop will learn techniques to defuse the difficult situation and personal safety methods to keep themselves from potential harm.
- Behavioural De-escalation
When employees are confronted by bad behaviour by others, such as abusive, aggressive or even manipulative behaviours, they often give in and allow these behaviours to occur. These behaviours may be triggered by personality issues, emotional disturbance, instability of mental health, or the effects of intoxication. When confronted, many employees tend to revert to instinctive defence postures which might actually exacerbate the situation. This ½ day course provides a range of strategies on how to psychologically deal with and de-escalate challenging and confronting situations.
- Effective Supervision Skills
Eighty percent of a supervisor’s role is in managing your people. Often supervisors are promoted into the role and have not been taught how to actually deal with people issues. Many find this part of the role challenging. Find out how to motivate your employees, manage poor performance, delegate tasks, and dealing with interpersonal conflict. This three day workshop will enhance the skills and confidence of supervisors through practical and simple techniques. Find out the key strategies to make supervising easier and more enjoyable.
- Positive Performance Management
Challenging and stressful are words often used by managers and supervisors to describe dealing with poor performance. When someone is not performing, a performance management process is usually applied. In many cases, how this is conducted may result in a claim of bullying and harassment against the supervisor or manager. Performance management need not be a negative process. By following some key principles supervisors and managers can turn these processes into a positive experience for all and one that enables the employee to demonstrate their capacity. This ½ day workshop will explain the strategies and techniques to create a positive and easy process when dealing with poor performance.
